A family portrait is a special photograph. Most families get their portrait taken only once or twice per lifetime and when they do, the photograph usually ends up as the living room centerpiece. For a portrait photographer, this can present an incredible opportunity. Consider it a chance not only to create an image that will be cherished for a lifetime, but also to invite new referrals and further jobs down the road.

A family portrait can also be one of the most challenging photographic assignments. Dealing with multiple adults and children of various ages all in the same shot can be daunting to say the least. In this lesson we will take you step by step through the process of setting up an indoor family portrait on location.
