Studio Lighting Techniques / Fruit in basket

When you are choosing a lighting set up for your subject, you have a few options. You can use the metal reflector that comes with your strobe, or a variety of other light modification devices, one of which being a softbox.

Since most, if not all, metal reflectors are silver, aside from just being small, they will also give you sharp and contrasty lighting effects.

Depending on it's size, a softbox will give you a larger light source than the standard 5 or 6 inch reflector.

This lesson will explain the many effects produced by light sources of different sizes and colors.
