Controlling Reflections with Double Diffusion / Artful vase

Because we receive many questions on how to control light on highly reflective objects, many of the lessons on Web Photo School demonstrate different approaches and techniques designed to address these questions. After all, lighting and photographing reflective objects (jewelry, cookware, automobiles) so that they look both natural and beautiful can prove to be somewhat challenging, if not downright scary! However, once you know how to control light on highly reflective objects, creating compelling images can be more fun than frightening.

This lesson illustrates a technique known as double-diffusion and shows how it can alter the appearance and texture of highly reflective glass to create smooth, controlled gradations.
