If you take a vertically oriented shot with a typical digital camera*, it's a good chance the image will open up in Adobe Photoshop in a horizontal orientation (90-degrees sideways). To rotate the image so that the orientation is correct and you don't have to tilt your neck, you need to rotate the image by choosing Image>Rotate Canvas> 90° CCW.

But what if you have a large group of images that you need to rotate and you don't want to spend the time rotating each one individually? Well, the good folks at Adobe have built in two functions in Photoshop that can relieve you of monotonous tasks such as this: Actions and Batch Processing.

*Many new cameras have built-in accelerometers that enable it to determine the proper viewing orientation and rotate the image if necessary.

This lesson examines the processes of creating Actions and running Batch Processes.
