Some of the most attention-getting images are those that are saturated in color. The eye is drawn to color the same way it is drawn to a compelling design or subject matter. The term "eye candy" is most likely derived in part from such images.
For a photographer, there are several methods used to maximize the amount of color in an image. When shooting traditionally, one can choose from different film types that render intense color.
Fuji Velvia springs to mind as a transparency film that exaggerates color to almost surreal levels. Lens filters and lighting gels can also greatly affect color shade, density and saturation.

Additionally, if you shoot with a digital camera, you can greatly affect color by adjusting the White Balance mode. Most of the time, it is best to set the White Balance to match the color temperature of the existing light. However, as this lesson will demonstrate, sometimes you can achieve improved results by altering this setting.
